I got a request on armaholic from a Macedonian community member that was asking if I could spend some time to make some Macedonian army troops/vehicles. I decided to give it a go in some of my spare time.

What I have so far:

BDU Equipped infantry

Yugoslavian weapons (uses Vilas' eastern weapons pack)

BMP-2, BTR-60, M113, T-55A, T-72A

What I'm going to try to add:

"Wolves" special forces

Alternative camo soldiers (I've seen a bunch of reference photos and half of them has this other camo, the other half seems to have the camo I'm using right now)

Some police forces (heavily armed to combat Albanian insurgents)

AN-2, Mi-24V, Mi-8

BTR-70 to replace the BTR-60 (BTR-60 is a placeholder, Macedonians don't use them)

Some more specific Yugoslav weapons if I can get them (M-80, M-79, Black Arrow, etc)

Going to try to integrate the yugoslav weapons I'm currently using into the mod itself so you don't have to download a 200mb+ pre-req addon

Prague, Czech Republic May 18

Bohemia Interactive, the award-winning independent Czech development studio, is pleased to announce, in cooperation with AWAR and X1Software, the release of Iron Front Liberation 1944, a brand new tactical shooter based on the Arma 2 engine.

About Iron Front Liberation 1944
Iron Front: Liberation 1944 is based on Arma 2 technology. It offers authentic environments, weapons & vehicles and is accompanied by two campaigns as well as a huge range of single player and multiplayer missions.

Experience the deciding battles of the summer offensive of 1944 as either the Germans or the Red Army. Starting out as a simple soldier on whichever side you choose, you will experience nerve-wracking, tactical combat – always caught between the orders from your commanding officers, and the reality of battlefield warfare. Over the course of the story, both protagonists will be promoted to command tanks and even fighter planes in addition to their own troops. Southern Poland is the setting, where the hostile armies will clash with the latest weapons from that period. The German objective is clear – consolidate and regroup the remaining troops, stop the Red Army’s advance at all cost, or at least slow it down. As a Red Army soldier, the task is less complex, but no less challenging: Break the resistance to enable an attack on Germany.

Iron Front Liberation 1944 will offer:

Large-scale battles involving infantry, tanks and planes that re-enact a realistic development of the summer offensive of 1944

Over 40 vehicles and planes, including the Königstiger, the Katyusha, the Focke-Wulf Fw-190 and the notorious Stuka

Huge arsenal of authentic weapons, such as the Mauser Karabiner, the MP 40 and grenades, mines, etc.

Tactical combat and commanding of troops and vehicles for a realistic “in the thick of it” feeling

Advanced game systems, such as realistic damage models for tanks, destructible environment, hitching and unhitching artillery, etc.

German and Russian campaign across eight missions, against an authentic backdrop

Varied mission objectives and a thrilling story covering the final months of the war

Extensive multiplayer capabilities, with cooperative and PvP battles

Editor for creating your own missions

Bohemia Interactive´s CEO, Marek Spanel, explains:
"The dreaded, bloody Battlefields of World War 2 are always a big challenge for developers working on realistic military simulations. You need to focus on the accuracy of historical backgrounds and units, combined with challenging and flawless yet immersive gameplay. I’m very happy that Bohemia Interactive has the opportunity to support AWAR and X1Software in this great project with our knowledge and Arma 2 technology to bring Iron Front to all PC gamers.”

The campaign revolves around your insertion as part of Task Force Fang, a Tier One contingent operating in the Horn of Africa. You are flown into the southern democracy of Afrene, which is nearing a full-scale armed conflict with their neighbor Molatia to the north. The notorious war criminal Arthur Bombaade has been operating freely in Molatia for some time, but it wasn't until the release of a western-made documentary detailing the horrifying activities of Bombaade (nickname: the Crocodile) and his death squad that the United States took closer interest. Amid the public uproar in America and Europe, the US President authorizes a seek and terminate order on Bombaade and his inner circle.

Prague, Czech Republic, Thursday 17 May 2012
Console Command - Bohemia Interactive and publisher Mastertronic have revealed the release date and launch platforms for the upcoming Carrier Command: Gaea Mission. The game will see a galaxy-wide release for Windows PC and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft on 27 September 2012.

Set in a massive archipelago, Carrier Command: Gaea Mission floats a refreshing gameplay combination of 1st/3rd person action with a hint of real-time strategy. The studio has been developing for Windows PC and Xbox 360 simultaneously, to ensure an optimal gameplay experience across the two platforms. The content in both versions will be the same.

Bohemia Interactive's founder and CEO, Marek Španěl, adds:
"I and my brother Ondrej were addicted to playing Carrier Command on our Atari ST. In fact, it was what inspired us to develop games ourselves. Now, almost 25 years after the original was released, it’s exciting to see our re-imagination, Carrier Command: Gaea Mission, finding its way to the massively expanded PC and immense console gaming audience."

Bohemia Interactive is also proud to announce their partnership with Mastertronic, who will oversee the European distribution of both the Windows PC and Xbox 360 physical retail copies.

Andy Payne, Managing Director of Mastertronic, concludes:
“We are really honoured to be working with such a talented and successful games developer as Bohemia Interactive. They have a fantastic track record of producing great games. Indeed it is a real co-incidence that one of the first games I worked on way back in the 80's was the original Carrier Command and my company, The Producers, now part of Mastertronic, helped Rainbird get that game in the hands of real fans. With that heritage in mind, Mastertronic will shout loud and proud about Carrier Command and we will ensure we help bring legions of new fans enjoy this great game.”

cimaleXXI submitted the first release for the Project82 Falklands/Malvinas, the Project82 - CH-47 Bravo November RAF + Ejercito argentino.

Quote CimaleX :

Project82 Falklands/Malvinas is a project by CimaleX dedicated to all servicemen of both countries who served and lost their lives in the South Atlantic conflict.
I decided to begin a project to port some of the addons into ArmA2 in a Mini-mod.
"Project 1982 - the Falklands/Malvinas war to A2" starts officially, with the aim to make a Mini-mod
until A3 is out, to rise the interest for this issue and then make an official team for Arma 3.
Doing a mini-mod by a single person is a difficult task, so I asked help to some artist to make a few addons. I received direct and indirect support from various artists (like CBFASI, LoRo, Konyo, Vilas, Pedagne Mod-ASZ, Trouble, GossamerSolid and others) who accepted to give me their effort in developing the Project.
The aim is to have a basic amount of weapons (based on Vilas West Pack), troops, vehicles and aircraft, while for the island/terrain I choose the good Falklands test 40x40 km terrain made by Bushlurker.
Several MP and SP missions were developed for A1 and await the new addons to revive with new Mini-mod.
If anyone of the community wish give us support and time, please contact me via PM.

The only Chinook to make it off the Atlantic Conveyor before an Exocet missile sunk the Cargo Ship along with its Cargo now in a new version with Falklands war livery and argentine army chinook, suitable for Project 82.

Changelog:

Added : BAF Variant - Can be used with BAF or BAF Lite, Falklands livery version, argentine version of CH-47 chinook

Fixed : Get in Gunner now changed to Get in Co-Pilot

Changed : Display Names

Removed : Manual Fire option

McNools' recent magnificent Aliabad map has scaled the dizzy heights of realism as far as I'm concerned, and I've been playing it constantly lately. The immersive perfection of this map is only marred by the fact that ALICE2 won't light up Arrowhead houses at night. Which means that unless light sources are manually placed, every house and compound is pitch dark at night.

I know the region is meant to be poor, but you'd think they could at least burn a few candles or lanterns at night! To simulate this, I wrote a simple script which follows the player around the map, selects all the enterable houses within a user defined radius of the player, and places a not-too-bright yellow/orange light source (colour/brightness are configurable) into each if it's dark. The effect is subtle but seeing a warm glow from houses really increases the sense that you're patrolling in an inhabited area.

Having a few additional light sources around doesn't seem to tax the engine too greatly, and engine limitations prevent there being too many at once anyway. You should see the closest 6 or so houses lit up. Lights are removed when the player moves from the area.

TPW_HOUSELIGHTS, as I have egotistically labelled this system, will work on any map with ALICE2 enterable buildings. It simply ignores non enterable buildings, so you won't notice it do anything on Chernarus.

Runs on : Arma2, Operation Arrowhead, Combined Operations

There will be more updates, as I figure out how to get the Gear to work again, create better textures, attach a laser designator, and add missiles, create better textures, with some help from the community. (This will take time, for I'm still very new with scripting, modeling, and texturing.)

There were two of them, born in meltdown of the most devastating war and living in the looming of the new one, created to take lives and become icons of their and following times. The warriors, the legends, the kings, the blood brothers - SKS and AK.

To win in a future war Soviet armies needed new weapons, capable to channel the fury of new 7.62x39 round, fail-safe and deadly. First weapon was thought as heir of the old glory, semi-automatic carbine that would bring down enemies with accurate single shots at 400 m range without enormous recoil of Mosin rifle. Second one was created to go USSR on everybody's asses with devastating automatic fire and so it does up until now! While unbound badassery of AK-47 is a fact known worldwide, the topic is dedicated to older brother who had his own great moments.

SKS had it's trial by fire in the end of Great Patriotic War, when some elements of 1st Belarussian front recieved new carbines and tested them in Germany during Wermacht's last stand. The weapon proved it's worth, but still required some development, which lasted till 1949.

In the next decade, AK and SKS stood side by side in the service, supplementing each other's strengths. AK was an assaulting beast, while SKS was like hunter's bow, delivering strike to the heart. Thanks to loading automation and ability to feed the 10-round box magazine with clips, SKS concept satisfied to all requirements of that time for middle-to-long distance combat.

50s have passed and new doctrines made those qualities unnecessary and SKS started to fade away and became second line weapon. But there ain't no grave to hold this body down, so SKS emerged and appeared in number of conflicts around the world. Whether it was in jungles of Vietnam, African sands or Korean mountains, SKS stood strong and deserved to be in line with greatest firearms of 20th century. It was produced in number of variants, in Project Reality we have SKS with folding bayonet and Type 59/66 with grenade launcher muzzle and front sight, which is able to shoot grenades at almost 200 yards.
